About the studio

We make software the way good furniture gets made.

Few pieces. Honest materials. Built to be used for years, by one person at a time.

"The best apps disappear into your day. They do one thing, do it quietly, and never ask for more than you came to give."
— Studio principle, no. 1

The studio.

Lean Orbit is a small, independent iOS studio. We design and ship focused apps for people who feel a little crowded by their tools and a little uneasy about where their data ends up.

We are deliberately small. One person makes most of the decisions, writes most of the code, and answers most of the email. That is by design — not as a humblebrag, but because the alternative is the kind of software you already have too much of.

Every app we ship is built on three rules. They are simple, and they are non-negotiable.

01 — Lean.

In the literal sense

Our apps are small downloads, fast to open, and don't follow you around with notifications. We do not ship features just because someone in a forum asked for them. Every screen has a reason to exist, or it doesn't ship.

We prefer a one-time purchase over a subscription whenever it's honest to do so. You should be able to buy an app, own it, and not have it ransom your data later.

02 — Intelligent.

AI, but quietly

We use AI where it earns its place. That usually means small, focused models doing useful work in the background — categorizing an idea, drafting a summary, surfacing a connection — and then getting out of the way.

We are skeptical of AI that performs intelligence for the camera. The version we like is the version you barely notice, the kind that makes the app feel a little more thoughtful than it has any right to be.

03 — Private.

On-device by default

Whenever it's technically possible, your data stays on your device. We do not require accounts. We do not run analytics that follow your behavior. We do not sell anything to anyone, because we do not collect anything to sell.

When an app does need to talk to a server, we say so plainly in the app and on the App Store listing. Privacy isn't a marketing section here — it's a default we have to work to justify breaking.
