Getting Started
How do I add my first item?
Tap the + button to add an item manually, or tap Scan to point your camera at a barcode or QR code. When you scan a code, ReStocker adds the item (or increases its count) instantly. You can fill in details like name, SKU, unit cost, location, category, par/reorder level, photo, and expiration date.
How does scanning to count work?
Open the scan view and point the camera at a barcode. Each scan logs a count change for that item, so you can walk your shelves and tally stock without typing. The on-hand quantity updates in real time, and every change is recorded in the item's count history.
How do I import my existing inventory?
Go to Import and choose a CSV file. ReStocker walks you through mapping your spreadsheet columns (name, quantity, SKU, cost, etc.) to the app's fields. CSV import is free and unlimited.
Reorder & Stock Levels
How do low-stock items and the reorder list work?
Set a par/reorder level on any item. When the on-hand quantity drops to or below that level, the item is flagged with a low-stock badge and automatically rolls up into your Reorder list, grouped by location. You can adjust order quantities there and export the list to send to a supplier.
Does the app send me push notifications when stock is low?
Not currently. ReStocker shows low-stock badges and builds a reorder list inside the app, but it does not send push or local notifications. Check the Reorder tab to see what needs restocking.
Sync & Backup
How does syncing across my devices work?
ReStocker uses Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) to keep your inventory in sync across your own iPhone and iPad, and to back it up automatically. There's no separate account to create โ it uses the Apple Account you're already signed in to.
My data isn't syncing between devices. What should I check?
- Make sure both devices are signed in to the same Apple Account.
- Confirm iCloud Drive is on and that ReStocker is enabled in Settings โ [your name] โ iCloud.
- Check that you have an internet connection on both devices.
- Open the app and give it a moment โ large libraries can take time on first sync.
- If it's still stuck, try closing and reopening the app on both devices.
Can I share my inventory with my team?
ReStocker syncs across one person's own devices via private iCloud. It does not currently support multi-user or team sharing. If team collaboration is something you'd like to see, let us know at [email protected].
Data, Export & Privacy
How do I export or back up my data manually?
Use Export to save your inventory as a CSV or text file via the iOS share sheet โ send it to email, Files, or another app. Export is free and unlimited, so you always have a copy of your data.
The camera won't scan. How do I fix it?
- Grant camera access in Settings โ ReStocker โ Camera.
- Make sure the barcode is well lit and fully inside the frame.
- Hold steady for a moment so the scanner can focus.
- Clean the camera lens if codes are blurry.
Where is my data stored, and who can see it?
Your inventory is stored on your device and in your private iCloud account. We can't see it, and we don't sell or share your data. Read the full Privacy Policy for details.
How do I delete my data?
Delete individual items in the app, delete the app to remove its local data, or manage the app's iCloud data in Settings โ [your name] โ iCloud โ Manage Account Storage.
