Getting started
How do I create a signature or initials?
Write on plain paper and photograph it with the app, import an existing photo, or type a signature and choose a handwriting style. Adjust the result and save it. You can save initials separately for documents that require both.
How do I sign a document?
Import a PDF from Files or open a PDF attachment with the app. Place your signature or initials, adjust the position and size, then tap Export. The app creates a signed PDF; it does not overwrite the original file.
What files and devices are supported?
Document signing supports PDFs, including password-protected PDFs when you supply the password. The app requires iOS 18 or later and is designed for iPhone. It can run on iPad in iPhone compatibility mode.
Free use and purchases
What is included for free?
New users receive 2 saved signatures and 1 document export per device. The signature allowance can cover a signature and separate initials. These are separate, lifetime allowances; they do not renew monthly. Free exports have no watermark.
Why does Settings show 3 signatures and 3 exports?
Existing users keep the original 3-signature, 3-export allowance. Settings identifies this as the grandfathered free plan. Upgrading to version 2 does not take away that allowance or reset uses already spent.
Does deleting a signature or reinstalling the app restore free uses?
No. Saving a signature spends a creation, even if you later delete it. The allowance is stored in the device's Keychain and persists across reinstallation. Deleting a signature does not refund a purchased credit either.
What happens when I run out?
After you use your free document exports, attempting to export a new document opens the purchase options. If you use all your signature creations, you can buy a credit or unlock unlimited signing to save another. Existing signatures, saved documents, and previously exported files remain available.
What does One Use Credit buy?
One credit covers either one new document export or one additional saved signature—not both. It is used only after the free allowance for that action is exhausted. For example, saving an extra signature after you have used your free signature creations spends a credit, even if you intended to use that credit for an export later.
Credits never expire. You can buy another whenever needed. The app shows the price before purchase and indicates when a save or export will use a credit. There is no automatic renewal.
What does Unlock Forever buy?
The lifetime unlock provides unlimited signature creations and document exports for one payment. Restore it on devices signed in to the Apple Account used for the purchase. There is no subscription to cancel.
When is an export counted?
The first successful export of a new document spends a free export or, if those are exhausted, one purchased credit. Cancelling the share sheet after the PDF has been generated does not refund the export. Re-exporting the same saved document is free. Importing the same source PDF again creates a new document and may use another export.
Can I restore or transfer purchased credits?
Delivered credits are stored on the device where they were purchased. They do not sync between devices. Restore Purchases restores the lifetime unlock; it does not replenish used credits or restore finished consumable purchases from Apple. The local credit record persists across reinstallation on the same device, but do not rely on it surviving a device erase or replacement.
See Apple's help with in-app purchases for more about restorable purchases.
I completed a purchase, but the paywall is still visible.
Complete Apple's purchase confirmation first. A successful purchase shows an Unlocked confirmation; tap Done to return to the app. Closing or cancelling Apple's payment sheet does not complete the purchase.
For a one-use purchase, check Settings → Purchased credits. A remaining credit can be used when the corresponding free allowance is exhausted. If the balance did not increase, check for an error on the paywall and reopen the app so it can recover an unfinished purchase. A purchase pending approval will become available after it is approved and delivered. If Apple confirms completion but the credit is still missing, contact support before purchasing again.
For a lifetime purchase, use Settings → Restore Purchases while signed in to the same Apple Account used to buy it.
How do I request a refund?
Apple handles refund requests. Visit Report a Problem or read Apple's refund instructions. Eligibility is determined by Apple.
Your files and privacy
Are signatures or documents uploaded?
The app processes and stores them on your device. It does not send them to Lean Orbit. Files leave the app when you choose to share them; device backups may also include app data according to your Apple settings. Apple handles purchase-related requests. Read the Privacy Policy for details.
How do I keep files before deleting the app?
Export or share anything you want to keep to Files or another destination. Deleting the app removes its local signatures and documents. Lean Orbit has no server copy to restore.
Can I delete the original signature photos?
Yes. Settings → Delete stored source photos removes the app's stored source photographs while keeping the saved signatures. It does not delete the original image from your photo library.
Troubleshooting
Camera access is off.
Enable Camera for the app in iOS Settings. You can also import a selected photo or type a signature without camera access.
The signature looks faint or patchy.
Use dark ink on plain white or light paper with even lighting. Avoid shadows and glare. Adjust the extracted signature before saving.
Why does the app warn me before exporting a PDF?
Some PDFs contain form fields, annotations, links, or other features that the export may change. Review the warning before proceeding and check the exported document.
