Descriptions

Please use the full name, DBT Diary Card: Skills Tracker, on first mention.

Short

DBT Diary Card: Skills Tracker is an iPhone and iPad app that turns the paper DBT diary card into a three-minute daily check-in. Clients export a PDF in the familiar diary card layout, and entries stay on their device.

Long

DBT Diary Card: Skills Tracker helps people in Dialectical Behavior Therapy complete their daily diary card in about three minutes and arrive at each session with the whole week in front of them. It follows the format DBT therapists already use: emotions and urges on a 0–5 intensity scale, target behaviors to decrease or increase, and all 30 DBT skills across the four modules, each rated for how well it worked. Weekly charts show emotion trends and which skills are being used. One tap produces a PDF for a day, a week or any date range, ready to share by email, Messages or AirDrop. An optional Face ID or Touch ID lock protects the app, and entries are stored on the device with no app account, advertising or in-app analytics. It is a self-tracking tool for use alongside therapy, not a treatment.

New iPhone App Turns the Paper DBT Diary Card Into a Three-Minute Daily Check-In Therapists Can Read at a Glance

DBT Diary Card: Skills Tracker keeps every entry on the user's device and exports a one-tap PDF in the familiar diary card layout

SEATTLE, WA — October 27, 2026 — Lean Orbit LLC today announced DBT Diary Card: Skills Tracker, an iPhone and iPad app that helps people in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) complete their daily diary card in about three minutes and walk into each session with the whole week in front of them. The app follows the diary card format DBT therapists already use, so clinicians don't have to learn anything new.

The diary card is one of DBT's core tools, yet it is often the hardest part of treatment to keep up. Paper cards get lost or filled in from memory minutes before a session. Many of the diary card apps clinicians recommend have not been meaningfully updated in years.

DBT Diary Card: Skills Tracker puts a complete card on the phone:

  • Emotions and urges on the 0–5 intensity scale, including custom labels
  • Target behaviors to decrease or increase
  • All 30 DBT skills across the four modules, each rated for how well it worked
  • A session notes field for what the user wants to raise with their therapist
  • Weekly charts of emotion trends, skill use by module and average effectiveness

A PDF the therapist already knows how to read. One tap produces a document laid out like the paper card, for a single day, a week or any date range. Users send it by email, Messages or AirDrop before the session.

Private by design. An optional Face ID or Touch ID lock protects the app. Diary entries are stored on the device, with no app account, developer-hosted storage, advertising or in-app analytics; Apple handles purchases separately. The app's App Store privacy label reads "Data Not Collected."

"Without a record, a week of DBT is a blur. You know you tried, but not when or how," said Raymond Laghaeian, founder of Lean Orbit LLC. "I built this so 'I think I used some skills' becomes 'I used Opposite Action three times and it worked twice' — something both the client and the therapist can see."

The app is a self-tracking tool meant to be used alongside DBT with a licensed clinician. It does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
